Definition:
Heat stroke is a serious condition where the body's temperature regulation fails, causing it to reach dangerously high levels, typically above 104°F (40°C).
Causes:
It's usually triggered by prolonged exposure to high temperatures, often combined with high humidity and physical exertion.

Symptoms:

  • High Body Temperature: 104°F (40°C) or higher.
  • Altered Mental State: Confusion, agitation, or even loss of consciousness.
  • Dry, Hot Skin: Skin may be dry due to environmental heat or sweaty from physical activity.
  • Other Signs: Nausea, vomiting, rapid breathing, and rapid heartbeat.

    Prevention:

    • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water.
    • Limit Sun Exposure: Stay in the shade during peak hours.
    • Wear Light Clothing: Loose, light-colored clothes help cool the body.
    • Take Breaks: Rest in cool places during physical activity.

      Treatment:

      • Cooling: Move to a cooler place and cool the body with water or ice packs.
      • Hydration: Drink cool fluids if conscious and able.
